Scene-By-Scene Descriptions

01 – The Velveteen Rabbit Overture (2:52)

The curtain rises on a magical forest alive with animals, fireflies, and fluttering butterflies. In the distance, a warmly lit home reveals the Boy and his family preparing for Christmas. Within this world, the Velveteen Rabbit peeks timidly from his box, soon to be placed in a stocking. Gentle, nostalgic themes introduce his quiet longing to be loved, as the music swells with wonder and foreshadows a journey of transformation.

02 – Parade of Toys (2:24)

Inside the nursery, the toys burst to life in a joyful procession. Soldiers march, dolls twirl, and mechanical toys spin with precision and charm. Amid the lively display, the Velveteen Rabbit remains inside his box—watching, waiting, and yearning to belong.

03 – Tidying Up (2:10)

Nana restores order to the nursery, transforming playful chaos into rhythmic routine. Choreography becomes structured and purposeful as each toy is returned to its place. The Velveteen Rabbit, still unnoticed in his box, is gently moved about—hopeful, but unseen.

04 – Christmas Is Here (2:13)

Christmas morning glows with warmth and excitement. The Velveteen Rabbit rests inside the Boy’s stocking as gifts are opened one by one. At last, he is discovered and chosen. In this simple, tender moment, the bond between the Boy and the Rabbit begins.

05 – The Skin Horse Arrives (2:14)

As night falls and the house grows quiet, the toys awaken once more. The wise Skin Horse enters with calm dignity, sharing with the Velveteen Rabbit the meaning of becoming “Real.” The music deepens with emotional resonance. As dawn approaches, the Boy awakens and chooses the Rabbit above all others—cementing their friendship.

06 – Sneaky Rabbits (2:05)

Outdoors, the Boy and the Velveteen Rabbit play freely. Suddenly, a group of wild rabbits appears—quick, spirited, and untamed. Their lively movements contrast with the Rabbit’s softness. Fascinated, he watches them, caught between the world he knows and the life he longs for.

07 – The Boy Is Sick (2:48)

A somber shift overtakes the stage. The Boy falls ill, and the once joyful world becomes still and fragile. The Velveteen Rabbit remains faithfully by his side. In a heartbreaking turn, all bedding, toys, and the Rabbit are taken outside and placed in a pile to be burned—sacrificed to protect the Boy and others.

08 – The Fairy Arrives (3:14)

In the quiet of night, magic enters. The Nursery Fairy appears, having long watched the Rabbit’s devotion and love. Time slows as she recognizes his wish to become real. Surrounded by forest fairies, glowing fireflies, and swirling light, the moment builds toward transformation. The music shimmers with wonder and grace.

09 – He Lives (3:10)

The Velveteen Rabbit is transformed into a real rabbit. At first tentative, he begins to move with new life and awareness. Friends gather around him, and the Skin Horse steps forward for a final, tender farewell. As the Rabbit embraces his new existence, the music expands into a sweeping grand waltz—marking both an ending and a beginning.

10 – Velveteen Grand Finale (2:43)

The stage fills with light and movement as the Rabbit fully embraces his new life. Themes from throughout the suite return, now transformed and radiant. This final dance celebrates love, memory, and the beauty of becoming real. The ballet closes with a sense of wonder, leaving the audience deeply moved by the journey.
