In 2005, Michael Allen Harrison composed and co-produced his first Broadway-style musical called Prometheus, a forty-two song all-libretto musical, with David Bates, writer/creator and co-producer. The music ranges from intimate ballads to rollicking big-band swing, from angelic children's choruses to enormous ensemble arrangements.
Prometheus is the legendary story of the immortal titan Prometheus, who stole the sacred flame of the gods and gave it to men on earth. When Zeus and the heavens ignite with vengeance and vow the demise of Prometheus and his children, audiences are wowed with a mythical tale of epic proportions.
In January of 2006, Michael Allen Harrison returned to his alma mater Parkrose High School to preview the musical. It wasn't the first time Michael performed on the stage at Parkrose, since, as a sophomore, he landed his first role as a ukulele boy in "No, No, Nanette." He went on to star as Bernardo, in "West Side Story" and John Adams in "1776." He believes the theater transformed him into somebody special and felt it was fitting to debut Prometheus where his theater career began.
Currently, Prometheus is being presented on a national and international level, and is being sent to producers, directors, investors, and the like. If you are interested in learning more about bringing this Broadway-style musical to center stage, please email Michael at mah@teleport.com.
